    Holiday Gift Guide: For Bookworms

For your friend who is always devouring books, or for the friend who wants to get back into reading, you’re guaranteed to find the perfect book in this gift guide for bookworms. Each book is assigned to a type of reader and has a description of the plot. Some are new bestsellers, others are older favorites.

If you can find these in a local bookstore – even better!

    The Midnight Library

    For the reflective fiction lover:

In The Midnight Library, Nora Seed finds herself faced with all of her possible alternate lives and she must search within herself as she travels through the Midnight Library to decide what is truly fulfilling in life, and what makes it worth living in the first place.

This is an easy read and a touching story that makes you question what really makes a good life.

    Crying in H Mart

    Perfect for the memoir lover:

This memoir tells the story of the author’s experience growing up as one of the few Asian American kids at school in Eugene, Oregon; of struggling with her mother’s particular, high expectations of her; of a painful adolescence; of treasured months spent in her grandmother’s tiny apartment in Seoul, where she and her mother would bond, late at night, over heaping plates of food.

    Call Us What We Carry

    For the poetry lover:

This beautiful collection of poems by the talented Amanda Gorman is the perfect gift for anyone who appreciates a lyrical exploration of history, language, and identity.

    People We Meet on Vacation

    For the serial romantic:

You’ve likely seen this book all over TikTok and if your friend hasn’t read it yet, this is a great option for anyone who loves a good romance novel.

This phenomenal book makes a great gift for any bookworm.

    Homegoing

For the reader who loves a multi-generation story:

This is one of my personal favorites. It’s a multi-generational story that follows two separated sisters from Ghana in the 18th century as one is sold into slavery and the other marries a slave trader. The story starts with them and stretches all the way to the modern-day, following their descendants.

This touching story is an essential for this gift guide for bookworms.

The Art of Hearing Heartbeats: A Novel

For the reader who loves a touching story:

Another personal favorite, this is one of the most beautiful stories I’ve ever read. When her father suddenly disappears, Julia goes to Burma to find the story of her father’s life with only the clue of a long-forgotten love letter to a Burmese woman. She finds a touching and heartbreaking story that she never expected.

This gift guide wouldn't be complete without one of my favorite self-improvement books!

Don’t Overthink It: Make Easier Decisions, Stop Second-Guessing, and Bring More Joy to Your Life

    For the overthinker:

This book will change how you think about so many things. With short chapters and questions at the end of each chapter, it’s easy to digest and full of useful advice.

Atomic Habits is a great gift for any bookworm who is on a self-improvement journey.

Atomic Habits: An Easy & Proven Way to Build Good Habits & Break Bad Ones

For the friend who’s working on themselves:

This is another book you’ve probably seen all over TikTok. I read this a couple of years ago and love seeing so many people reading it now – it really is full of the most useful tips and research I’ve ever heard.

A kindle is the perfect gift for any bookworm who is on the go.

    Kindle Paperwhite

    For the traveling reader:

If you don’t know what book to get your favorite bookworm, consider getting them this Kindle so they can read by the pool, in low light, and when traveling!

If none of the books in this gift guide for bookworms strike your fancy, you can explore more fiction recommendations or self-improvement books that might be better suited to your friends.
