Valentine’s Cocktail Recipe #3: Sweet Then Sour
The sour is a classic cocktail, usually made with a base spirit such as gin, whiskey, or brandy. Many bartenders also incorporate egg whites to add a unique twist. The egg whites give the cocktail a creamy, lush texture and a slightly frothy foam. Adding citrus juices and sugar syrup brings out the flavors of the other ingredients and gives the drink a tart, sour flavor.
A great Valentine’s cocktail option for those who prefer a sour taste is the Valentine’s Sweet Then Sour. It uses gin, lemon juice, and simple syrup like a traditional Sour, but with the added flavor of pomegranate juice. The combination of gin and lemon juice gives a delicious and balanced taste that is light, balanced, and, of course, sour. The simple syrup helps reduce the tartness of the lemon juice while leaving a pleasant tanginess. The Sweet Then Sour is great for those who prefer a more sour drink flavor, even on Valentine’s Day.
