As wedding season approaches, many of us are searching for the perfect wedding guest dresses to wear to different events. If you’re struggling to find a dress, we have 26 excellent options at all different price points that you can buy or rent for upcoming weddings.
What is appropriate to wear as a wedding guest?
The answer to this question largely depends on the venue and dress code for the event. For outdoor weddings, most dress codes will likely be a little less formal than a wedding in a ballroom, for example. However, it’s always best to refer back to your wedding invitation to be sure. If your event is semi-formal or more formal, I would recommend opting for a dress that falls below the knee.
A dress is always a safe bet, although jumpsuits or a tasteful pantsuit can also be a great option if dresses are really not your thing!
What should you not wear to a wedding?
Anything that resembles a wedding dress or is white, cream, ivory, or very close to white is not acceptable for a wedding! Additionally, depending on the style and dress code of the wedding, very flashy or revealing dresses may also be inappropriate to wear as a wedding guest.
If you have a wedding guest dress in mind that you’re unsure about, it might be a good idea to check with the bride (or the maid of honor) to make sure it would be appropriate for their event.
How should you dress for a wedding?
No matter what kind of wedding you’re attending, my advice is always to go for tasteful and classy for your wedding guest outfit. Even if it’s a more casual wedding, wearing a classy, over-the-knee dress helps you stay wedding-appropriate without getting very fancy. It’s also important to account for potential hours of dancing or cold weather if it’s not during the summer season. Make sure your shoes are comfortable and your dress is easy to dance in (while keeping you covered!).
